Free Project GUTS (CS + STEM) Workshop for Middle Grades Science Educators in August
Project GUTS — “Growing Up Thinking Scientifically” — is a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program for middle school students. Growing up thinking scientifically means learning to look at the world and ask questions, develop answers to the questions through scientific inquiry, and design solutions to their problems.
Project GUTS consists of four instructional modules and professional development for the introduction of computer science concepts into science classrooms within the context of modeling and simulation. The goal of the program is to situate computer science practices and concepts within the context of life, physical, and earth sciences, and to prepare students to pursue formal, year-long courses in computer science during high school.
Thanks to the generous support of Tata Consultancy Services, CSNYC is pleased to offer a free three-day workshop for middle school science teachers in August 2017. Participants will receive a small stipend, lunch, and a set of classroom materials.
