Girls in Computing

Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Women make up half the U.S. college-educated workforce, yet only 25% of computing professionals.* At this meetup, we'll discuss various opportunities for girls that aim to close this gender gap. Panelists representing a range of organizations will share opportunities for girls in computing, from in-school strategies to informal enrichment and college pathways.

Panelists include:

Andrea Chaves, Computer Science Teacher, The Young Women’s Leadership School, Astoria
Mutale Nkonde, K12 Education Lead, Black Girls Code
Judith Spitz, Founding Program Director: Women in Technology and Entrepreneurship in New York (WiTNY) at Cornell Tech
Chrissy Ziccarelli, Deputy Director of Instruction, Girls Who Code
Moderator: Leigh Ann DeLyser, Director of Education and Research, CSNYC

*Google Inc. & Gallup Inc. (2016, March). Computer Science Learning: Closing the Gap: Girls.
